Privacy Policy

The short version: Tiny Books runs entirely on your computer. There is no account, no telemetry, and no analytics. We operate no servers, and the app never sends us anything. The only network traffic the app produces is the book lookups you ask for.
Who we are
Tiny Books is a desktop application for creating printable miniature book covers, made by Matthew Parke. For anything in this policy, contact support@tinybooks.app.
What the app stores on your device
Everything Tiny Books works with lives in files on your own computer: your settings, your license key, the cover images you add, the covers and layouts the app generates, its local database, and diagnostic log files. None of it is uploaded anywhere. It never leaves your machine unless you choose to send it to someone.
When the app uses the internet
Tiny Books contacts the internet only when you ask it to look something up:
- Open Library. When you paste an Open Library link or search for a book, the title, author, or book ID you entered is sent to openlibrary.org to fetch that book’s details, and the cover image is downloaded from covers.openlibrary.org. Open Library is run by the Internet Archive; its terms and privacy policy apply to those requests.
- Google Books. Some book details and cover thumbnails may be fetched from Google Books. Google’s privacy policy applies to those requests.
- Checking for updates. If you choose “Check for Updates” in the menu, the app fetches a small version file to see whether a newer release exists. Nothing about you or your library is included in that request.
Like any request on the internet, these carry the ordinary technical details of a connection (such as your IP address) to the service being contacted. Tiny Books adds nothing else: no identifiers, no usage data, and nothing from your library beyond the lookup you typed or pasted.
Purchases
Tiny Books is sold through storefronts such as itch.io and the Microsoft Store. Your payment is handled entirely by the storefront under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your payment details.
Support
If you email support@tinybooks.app, we receive what you choose to send — your email address, your message, and any files you attach (such as log files). We use it only to help you, keep it only as long as the conversation needs, and never sell or share it.
Feedback & bug reports
The feedback form is a Google Form, hosted by Google, not by us. Anything you type into it is submitted to Google and stored in a Google account we control; Google’s own privacy policy governs that transmission and storage.
The form asks what your report is about, what happened, and — optionally — for the diagnostics block and log file contents the app can put on your clipboard. That block contains your app version, operating system, runtime versions and the file paths of your logs. The logs themselves contain the app’s own diagnostic output, which can include file paths from your machine.
None of it is sent automatically. The app cannot submit the form, cannot upload a file, and never reads a log file’s contents itself — it copies paths to your clipboard and opens a folder. Everything that reaches the form is text you pasted in and chose to submit, and you can read it before you do. The form does not ask for your name or email, and it does not require a Google account.
Children
Tiny Books collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Deleting your data
Because everything is stored locally, deleting your data is in your hands: uninstall the app and remove its application data folder. There is nothing held on any server for us to delete.
This website
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics script, and embeds no tracking pixel or third-party beacon. The company that hosts it keeps standard server logs (such as the IP addresses of visitors) to operate the service.
One thing is worth naming rather than leaving under
“standard server logs”. Links we hand out in
videos, posts and emails point at short
/go/… addresses on this domain that
redirect you onward; we count how many times each of those
addresses was fetched, so we can tell which post someone
came from. That count is a line in the same server log, kept
for three days. It sets nothing on your device, it is not
tied to you, and it does not follow you to wherever the link
goes.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s behavior ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and its “last updated” date before the change ships.
