Feedback & bug reports

Bugs, feature requests, and anything else you want to say.

The short version: everything goes through one form. Tell us what you expected, what happened instead, and which version of Tiny Books you are running — the app will put all of that on your clipboard for you.

What to include

A report with these four things in it can usually be fixed without a second email. A report without them usually cannot.

  1. What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
  2. The steps that led to it, even the boring ones.
  3. Your version and operating system. Open Settings in the app: the version is printed at the top of the page, and the Feedback & bug reports card has a Copy report button that puts the version, your OS and your log file paths on the clipboard in one go.
  4. The log files, pasted in. See below.

Sending the log files

Tiny Books writes two log files while it starts up and while it runs, and they are the only record of what went wrong inside a packaged app. They are the single most useful thing you can send.

In the app, open Settings and use Open log folder on the Feedback & bug reports card. If the app will not start at all, the files are here:

Open startup.log and crash.log, and paste their contents into the last question on the form. There is no file-upload box on purpose: Google Forms makes an upload question require a signed-in Google account to submit anything at all, and a bug report should not need an account. Nothing is ever uploaded automatically — the app cannot send a file anywhere, by design, so these only travel if you paste them yourself. They contain the app’s own diagnostic output, including file paths from your machine; read them first if that matters to you.

Feature requests

Same form, different box. What is most useful is the problem rather than the solution — the thing you were trying to do when you wished the feature existed.

If the form will not open

Write to support@tinybooks.app instead, with the same details. What you send us is covered by the privacy policy: we use it to help you, keep it only as long as the conversation needs, and never sell or share it.
